PROJECTS

THE BRICK DISPLAY

The brick display is the proud prominent feature of the Veterans Memorial Park. The VMP board members are continuously maintaining, expanding, and upgrading it.

THE PARKING LOT~
BEGINNING

The first phase of construction of the parking lot was completed in 2018. This was in line with the original design and made possible by a great deal of fundraising and a grant from Archuleta County.

THE PARKING LOT~ COMPLETION

The final phase of the parking lot was completed in the fall of 2022. The parking lot is used every day!

THE SIDEWALKS

In October 2023, the Veterans Memorial Park and Archuleta County joined together for “The Sidewalk Project”. This project resulted in the completion of sidewalks all along the inside perimeter of the parking lot as well as an area for picnic tables and a bicycle rack.

THE BENCHES & AMMENITIES

Made possible through donations and grants, the Veterans Memorial Park has been able to install six contemplative benches, three picnic tables located along the trails, two benches inside the brick display, the poignant Iwo Jima sculpture, and trees and landscaping materials.

THE TRAILS

Thanks to continuous donations of materials as well as enthusiastic volunteers from the community, the Veterans Memorial Park has designed and built over a mile of trail around the perimeter of the Park. The ongoing landscaping and maintenance of the Park is all done by members of our community.
